Why Beauty Products Don't Work as Claimed?

Probably you have been buying beauty products with exaggerated marketing claims. Unfortunately the beauty industry is full of these…

Transparency is a huge issue in the cosmetic industry, simply because being 100% transparent and honest doesn't sell millions of products.

Most likely, you wouldn't buy a cream that says “this will only make your skin slightly softer”.

As a cosmetic chemist, I see many products with exaggerated marketing claims about a single ingredient.

Of course they neglect to say that the amount in the formula is only 0.01%, which means the ingredient is not effective because the amount is too low and generally the product is overpriced. We call these marketing ingredients.

Furthermore, many cosmetic companies don’t disclose the REAL ingredients list because they’re afraid other companies might copy their products(!). Or they’re simply dishonest.

While the lack of transparency from cosmetic companies is despicable, people shouldn’t expect miracles from cosmetics.

Cosmetics help keep beautiful/healthy what is already in good condition. If you wish for cosmetics to completely transform your appearance you are going to be disappointed.
