How To Look Ten or More Years Younger?

We asked a few people how to How To Look Ten or More Years Younger? and this is their answer.

1. Pat Mayfield, former Writer

I'm 62, this photo is only a year old. I look pretty much the same. The way I keep young? I only eat once a day, I don't eat any milk products, or bread products. Because I'm allergenic to them. I don't smoke, drink alcohol or do drugs. I've never drank a soda in my life. Or had a coffee. I had 7 kids, didn't use birth control. I try to only put natural things into my body. My mom use to own health food stores in CA so I grew up with health foods all my life.

My advice? Be in tune with your body, know what your allergic to and what your not. Hint, you'll put on weight with the foods your allergic to and your face will break out. Don’t eat those foods. Don’t eat take out foods.

The top photo was taken on April 9, 2018. Bottom photo was taken on March 28, 2020, and showing noticeable improvement. I’m 34.

This was what I started doing two years ago:

Began exercising 2x a week with personal trainer for 30 minutes. I am still with same trainer two years later working out 2x a week. (Obi Owoh - Lionstrong Fitness for anyone living in greater Salt Lake City metro area or Park City)

Take daily multi-vitamin. I like One-A-Day

Apply daily Sunscreen SPF 50

I’ve tried a variety of face creams. I’ve used Pond’s Clarant B3 and Olay Regenerist. I’m currently using Bath & BodyWorks Hyaluronic Acid lotion, this is a great cream as I live in a dry climate. By far my favorite.

Commit to sleeping 7-8 hrs

I’m a Latter-day Saint & do not smoke, nor drink alcohol & coffee. Avoiding those things helped a lot with preventing premature aging. That combined with exercise & applying sunscreen took my skincare from good to great two years later.

I’m almost 40 and I frequently get the “you look 18!” once they know my real age or find out I’m a mom. Ever since I started using sunscreen daily and AHA/BHA exfoliants since I was 16, I have looked exactly the same. The sun’s UV rays are very damaging to our skin, so I always wear a hat if I’m going to be in the sun and slather on SPF 60 sunscreen all over areas that may be exposed to the sun.

I’ve maintained the same weight I had in high school by having good hunger and satiety cues. I have not indulged in alcohol, red meat, or excess sugar. These are all terrible for your bodily functions and cause significant inflammation and premature aging. A few years ago, I started to eat more healthily (more fruit and vegetables, less processed foods) and now I feel better health-wise than I did when I was a teen.

I am of the mindset that we should take good care of our bodies; it’s the only one we’ve got and we should treat it with respect.

This is me at 35 (above) last fall, and this is me a few months ago at 36 (below).

I don’t have all the answers and am just as concerned with aging as everyone else. :) That being said, I’ve noticed that people seemed very surprised when I tell them I’m nearly 37. In fact the other day, I was carded for wine at the grocery store, and the manager was shocked that I wasn’t in my twenties. This scenario seems to happen with frequency.

I honestly don’t have a fabulous skin care routine, but I have used Retin A a fair amount during my adult life. It is worth the money, in my opinion. I also believe in the power of the following:

  • Sleep: I make a concerted effort to get adequate nightly sleep. When I’m tired, I take naps, and I don’t feel guilty about it. Sleep is critical to optimal functioning, and it also restores and rejuvenates skin. I’m a big believer in the miraculous powers of sleep!
  • Minimal sugar: Sugar inflames our body and leads to the degeneration of our skin. I stay away from pastries, candy, and sweets. (Doritos are another story though. 😬)!
  • Exercise: I love to run and walk. Keeps me fit and toned.
  • Happiness: I try to never lose my zest for learning and cultivating my mind. This goes a long way toward keeping an active, sparkling spirit, which in turn, manifests itself externally!

5. Desiree Oxendine, Esthetician

Ok so I'm 34 and I get carded for just about everything still. It's annoying yet also flattering. I have teenage boys trying to hit on me and are shocked to find out I'm 34. I thank good genes for most of this but having a good proper diet and exercise are some key factors.

Sleeping good amount of hours is very very helpful but most nights I'm up late and still don't see and adverse affects to my skin. Bit this could just be me so please don't use this as a way of life for you as well.

Stress really does play a huge role in the appearance of your skin so avoid stress as much as possible.

A good skincare routine helps but if your not healthy the skincare aspect just won't work as well as if you are.

Minimalistic makeup will reduce signs of aging in the future. Using quality products only.

Satin pillow cases made my whole life. Never looking back. You should try this.

No smoking no smoking no smoking. Drugs are bad mmmmk?!?

Laugh often and drinks tons of water. A good healthy sex life doesn't hurt either.

Release of tension gets rid of stresses in your body and this is good.

If you aren't old enough for sex, then don't do it just for this fact. Please don't. Get yourself a good little hobby that relaxes you and makes you feel good about yourself. I like arts n crafts type stuff, I'm a real nerd for anything glittery and pretty.

Maintain good hygiene always.

Don't touch your face all the time, this could pass on oils and dirty to it that can cause bacteria build up and that could cause outbreaks that could potentially scar.

I know this is all scattered but I hope you got something out if this. Feel free to ask me anything you want whenever you need. Take care 😘
